Introducing: The 24-7 Fire Advisory Board

24-7 Fire, the new professional education and fire training series from Health & Safety Institute has been developed with the assistance of the newly appointed 24-7 Fire Advisory Board.

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 29, 2009 – Eugene, Oregon: Health and Safety Institute (HSI) family of brands, inclusive of American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI), MEDIC First Aid, 24-7 EMS, is proud to announce the release of 24-7 Fire.  This new professional education and fire training series from Health & Safety Institute has been developed with the assistance of the newly appointed 24-7 Fire Advisory Board.

“These individuals bring a wealth of experience, dynamic leadership, and diversity in the fire service industry to this important new project”,  states Jeff Lindsey, Chief Learning Officer for HSI. “They provide insight to the fire industry that will develop 24-7 Fire as a leader in fire service training programs,” said Lindsey.

Introducing members of the 24-7 Fire Advisory Board:

Adam K. Thiel  - Chair: Former Virginia State Fire Director, and active Fire Chief in the national capital region.
For the past decade, Chief Thiel has provided strategy, planning, risk management, and leadership consulting/expertise to international organizations, non-profits, government agencies at all levels, educational institutions, and private firms. Adam has authored more than 20 publications; presented at more than 30 conferences in multiple states/countries; and teaches graduate-level courses at several colleges/universities. Chief Thiel is active in a number of professional groups, boards and committees: he chairs the National Fire Protection Association Technical Committee on Emergency Services Organization Risk Management and serves on the steering committee for George Washington University's Homeland Security Policy Institute.

Cheryl Horvath – President: Division Chief, Operations, for the Northwest Fire District in Tucson, Arizona.
Chief Horvath has been in the fire service since 1992, working as a full-time firefighter in Illinois where she served as union president for four years. Horvath is a field instructor for the Illinois Fire Service Institute, teaching in the fire suppression, rescue, and management programs. She is the current president of the Board of Trustees for the International Association of Women in Fire & Emergency Services.

William F. Jenaway: Executive Vice President of VFIS. (VFIS provides insurance and risk management services to Fire and EMS agencies.)
Dr. William F. Jenaway, Chief (ret.), King of Prussia, PA Volunteer Fire Company, has over 35 years of fire service experience, over 25 at the chief officer level.   Dr. Jenaway was named Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year in 2001.

Kenneth R. Knipper: Past Chief of the Silver Grove Volunteer Fire Department and 2008 inductee to the Kentucky Firefighters Hall of Fame.
Ken currently chairs the National Volunteer Fire Council EMS Committee, represents volunteer EMS providers on NEMSAC, chairs the NFPA Technical Committee on EMS, sits on the NFPA Technical Committee on Ambulances and the NFPA IMS Committee, and serves on numerous NHTSA, CDC, APHA, and AEMS projects.

I. David Daniels: Fire Chief and Emergency Services Administrator in the City of Renton, Washington.
Chief Daniels is a 29-year fire service veteran who has served in over twenty different capacities as a firefighter, company officer and chief officer.  

Richard W. Patrick: Retired Deputy Fire Chief of Estero Fire Rescue District in Estero, FL
Rick is the former Director of EMS Programs and Emergency Service Initiatives for VFIS, a division of Glatfelter Insurance Group, York, Pa., where he remains as a consultant. Rick is a nationally known leader, educator, lecturer, author, speaker and consultant in EMS.

Ken Bouvier: Fire Chief for Monsanto Company in Luling, Louisiana.
Ken served as the President of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) from 2004 – 2006 and presently serves NAEMT as a Director at Large.  In 1989 Ken received the Robert E. Motley National EMT of the Year Award and in 2008 he received the prestigious Rocco V. Morando Lifetime Achievement Award.   Ken is an active member of the Louisiana Association of Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians, former member of the Board of Directors and a past president of the New Orleans EMT Association.

Ronald E. Gill Jr.: Director of Fleet Management for the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department.
Chief Gill is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University’s Masters of Science program. He has a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science and is currently pursuing his doctorate in Fire and Emergency Management from Oklahoma State University. In addition Chief Gill is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program and is a Certified Public Manager through The George Washington University.

“As chair of the 24-7 Fire Program Advisory Board, I'm humbled to be working with such an outstanding team.  All of these folks have matchless professional credentials, but just as important is the broad perspective they bring to the process of ensuring 24-7 Fire meets the needs of the industry”, states Adam K.
