Oct. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- A fascination with the harsh environment of the desert Southwest has inspired Howard Brandenburg to create his monumental paintings. His images are incisive depictions of an unforgiving landscape baked in the ever present sun. They are infused with a deeply melancholic commentary on the fragile nature of existence.

Howard Brandenburg offers a corrosive and fantastic vision of humanity’s struggle to survive. He strives to explore human behavior and evolution by observing the ways in which we impact others as well as the environment. Through painting, he enjoys the freedom to explore these issues while translating them into metaphorical images.

Howard Brandenburg is also an accomplished illustrator who has had his work represented in numerous publications. His scientific depictions of native New Mexico fishes have appeared in books and brochures by the New Mexico Fish and Game Department for several consecutive years.
