FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 28, 2009 -
Local Independent College Consultant, Christine M. Hall, of CMH College Consulting in Cary, just completed an eight-day tour of 19 colleges in the New England area.  The tour started in Connecticut with visits to Fairfield University, a Jesuit college, and Yale University.  The next stop was in Providence, Rhode Island with visits to Brown, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Providence College, a Dominican Catholic school.  The tour continued to Boston with visits to Wellesley, a liberal arts school for women, and then to Boston College, another Jesuit school.

The second half of the tour was conducted by the New Hampshire College University Consortium.  This is a private organization in New Hampshire that promotes all the colleges in the state.  The tour was open to Guidance Counselors and Independent College Consultants.  The tour covered Chester College, Plymouth State University, the University of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Institute of Art, Rivier College, Southern New Hampshire University, St. Anselm College, New England College, Colby-Sawyer College, Dartmouth, Franklin Pierce University and Keene State College.

During the tour, counselors and consultants met with the Director’s of Admissions and Admissions Counselors for each of the schools.  Information was shared regarding unique academic, as well as financial opportunities that were available for prospective students.  Profiles of current students, as well as discussion regarding the application and selection process were shared. Opportunities were also available to meet and speak with current students and professors from each of the schools.  On numerous occasions, the group was addressed by presidents, provosts, and deans of the respective schools.

Independent College Consultants do not replace a student’s school counselor.  Instead, they act as an additional resource to the student, parent, and in some cases, the school.  The Consultant, however, is able to provide extended individual time to the student and their families.  That time is usually very flexible, occurring during the hours that schools are normally not in session.  Additionally, an Independent Consultant has the time and flexibility to research and visit dozens of colleges and universities throughout the country each year.  This opportunity allows the consultant to provide first-hand knowledge of academic programs, as well as a personal description of the campus and its environment.
