This whole project started just after the first of the year while I was watching TV.  You see, while watching a Fox show (GB) one evening I got so upset about our government’s current interpretation of the constitution that I screamed at the TV. “Don’t they understand; the constitution is written in stone”.  And then it came to me --- I can do that.

I thought it would be a relatively easy task.  Wrong, you see the document is not exactly in pristine condition.  I had to digitally remove the soiled and faded paper leaving only the original ink as it was originally laid down by Jacob Shallus over 200 years ago.  Mr. Shallus was the man who in 1787 was paid $30 dollars to pen the Constitution.  To do this I had to enlarge the document several hundred percent and remove the paper portion of the digital photograph pixel by pixel.  This took a great number of hours to accomplish.

The result is what you see; just the original handwriting of Mr. Shallus laser etched into the marble as it would have looked the day he wrote it.  This marble engraving of the U.S. Constitution will last hundreds of years without any special conditions.  Unlike the original it will not fade or deteriorate.  As you know there are stone documents written thousands of years ago that can still be read today.  I believe our founding fathers intended for the constitution to last as long as this stone engraving will last.

To that end; I have crafted an ecstatically pleasing permanent rendition of the Constitution as it would have looked in 1787.  The result is the U.S. Constitution vividly and permanently laser etched into solid marble.  It’s an item that will last many lifetimes and lets people know what’s important to you.  I know at $495 per page it’s not an impulse purchase, however, as I’ve said earlier it will outlast both of us and is a unique work of art that can be displayed with pride.  The completed first page can be purchased at www.StoneConstitution.com.

Each page is solid marble 8 mm thick and is hand buffed to a mirror finish.  The marble that we use is imported from Asia and is graded “absolute black”.  That means it has very small graining and little or no veining to interfere with the laser engraving.

Engraving the stone involves laying down approximately 418 thousand watts of light energy in a very small dot that sweeps back and forth to recreate the U.S. Constitution as it was when it was originally created.

After engraving the marble is cleaned and then burnished using a special proprietary process that enhances the contrast between the absolute black marble and the engraved words.

Each page comes ready to mount to your wall with four 1 inch thick solid anodized aluminum corner brackets.  The brackets come drilled and pre-threaded.  The mounting holes align with a typical 16” on center wall studs.

Anyone who orders the first page is guaranteed to be able to purchase the remaining pages for the same price as soon as they are completed.  I am expecting to complete each page every 10 to 13 weeks and will be available for purchase immediately after.  This product is fully guaranteed and if for any reason you don’t like it simply return it within 30 days of receipt for a full refund.

Shipping:  The marble is shrink wrapped and sandwiched between 2 pieces of quarter inch MDF hard board and then packaged with corner protectors.  It is shipped via insured UPS ground.

Because the marble we us is hard to come by we are selling a limited number of these for $495 per page plus shipping and packaging of $65 at www.StoneConstitution.com.
