As the family archivist, I have collected photographs from all sides of my family that date back to the 1800’s! Restoration of these precious photographic pieces of family history is a labor of love and has yielded over 100 family photo treasures that I have restored for future generations. Finding wedding photographs is a special treat. Working with antique photography requires a gentle touch and solid working knowledge of the mechanics of early photography to be able to rescue the images. My work with my family’s historic photographs over the years has reinforced my belief in the necessity of capturing important life cycle events. Wedding photography, bar mitzvah photography and family photography are important artifacts of any family history.

My job as the wedding photographer is to not only record the nuptials, but the entire day. While the Bride and Groom are certainly the key photo subjects, Moms and Dads, siblings, family and friends play an integral part of the day’s photographic journal. Knowing where to be as well as when to be there are key to photographing the range of emotions of the day as well as the iconic moments. There is a time and a place for “staged” portrait photographs as well as candid moment photos and I always have the schedule for the day worked out to make sure to capture all the photographs that will be needed to record the laughter, tears and joy of the day.

Bar mitzvah photography and bat mitzvah photography capture the simcha of a once-in-a-lifetime event. Photographing the holy moments at the synagogue as well as the fun at the celebration requires an intimate knowledge and respect of the ceremony, traditions and process. Capturing photos of the moment of pride and accomplishment at the end of the maftir is my special joy. The photographic record of the day has to catch the unique personality that the bar/bat mitzvah brings to the ceremony, as well as the celebration.

My job as a high school senior photographer is to work with each student to help them to define what they want out of their portraits. I guide them through the process of finding the elements in their lives that give them their special character and can be portrayed in photographs. Athletes, scholars, even computer focused hobbies and activities have a place in the portrait layout to truly reflect the individual. I can provide settings in studio and Seattle locations that will reflect and support the student’s life and personality. Parents have a special role in this too, as they will surely want a specific “look” from the portraits they want to display and send out to family and friends.

Family photography and portraying families in portraits that will be kept and displayed for years to come is a special passion of mine. As a Seattle family photographer, I am blessed with an unending supply of inspirational locations and can always find the perfect photography spot that reflect a family’s own character. Whether photographing multiple generations or immediate family, I work to pose the group in a manner that will reveal the deep and abiding love between family members. Family portraits can portray the love and adoration of a toddler, as well as the amusement (and sometimes separation!) of a teenager.
