Too many hopeful parents send their children to school only to learn the children they thought were brilliant are disruptive, scattered, or ‘slow.’ Before rushing to find out what's wrong with their kids, maybe they should diagnose the methods used at school instead.
According to Resa Steindel Brown, conventional educational techniques can crush a child's naturally bright and inquisitive nature. She has worked with students of all ages. During her 36 years as an educator, she developed successful alternatives to the methods that have failed so many children.
Resa will take calls from concerned parents and discuss why:
* Grades and standardized tests measure neither ability nor intellect, but compliance, and kids who get good grades may not function well when they enter ‘the real world.’
* The symptoms of ADHD and other ‘learning disabilities’
* Our current education system, designed during the Industrial Revolution, is failing children of the Information Age.
* The curriculum she developed doesn’t include homework, grade levels or tests—yet had her sons taking college classes at ages 11 and 12.
Resa currently runs the program she created for the Las Virgenes School District in Southern California.
