Taunton Press, an innovative publisher of magazines, books and online products for home design and building, gardening and cooking, recently completed a project utilizing the laminate floor products and installation services of Wildman’s Flooring America store in Woodbury, CT. Tom Pelletier, owner of the Flooring America showroom and store at 670 Main Street South in Woodbury, stated, “Taunton Press contacted us because they needed a professional supplier and installer of laminate flooring for a private home restoration project here in Woodbury for a “Installing Floors” book to be published in 2011 as a newly-created addition to their popular “Build Like a Pro” series.
Writer of two books in Taunton Press’ popular “Build Like A Pro” series, author Joseph Truini of Roxbury, CT, stated, “Flooring America in Woodbury was contacted to help me with the seventh chapter of my new book, ‘Installing Laminate Planks’. In early August, I brought my crew to the house to photograph Tom Pelletier and his colleagues installing 650 square feet of laminate flooring in three bedrooms and a hallway. We photographed the step-by-step process of tearing up the carpeting, laying down the laminate plank flooring, then cutting the trim work. In one day, we shot everything from the start, to middle, to the end of the entire process.”
Wildman’s Flooring America’s Pelletier stated, “I worked closely with my colleagues, installers Mike Russo and Marcel Binette both of Waterbury, and our on-staff supervisor, Rob Fekete, of Waterbury, who is a Flooring America Partner and Manager of our Prospect, CT store. Interestingly, 15 years ago the owner of our Woodbury store, which was then named Wildman Carpet, installed carpet in the three rooms and the hallway of this same house. Here we were 15 years later, ripping out that exact carpeting and installing laminate floors and new molding trim.”
Pelletier explained that Taunton Press contacted him through a friend and colleague, Drew Rydingsword from Franklin Hardwood Floors in Woodbury, CT. “Drew was installing hardwood floors for another project Taunton press was covering, and he recommended our store for the laminate floor project. Our Flooring America stores in both Woodbury and Prospect have worked closely with Franklin Hardwood on numerous projects throughout Connecticut.”
Known as the “The Ultimate Flooring Company”, Flooring America is an affordable supplier of flooring options that include carpet, hardwood, laminate tile, ceramic tile, vinyl flooring and area rugs. “All our personnel,” explained Pelletier, “are highly-trained to assist every customer throughout every step of the flooring process. This project with Taunton Press was no different.”
Flooring America has over 500 stores across the United States. Each store is independently owned and operated, and backed by the Flooring America promise to provide the best quality at affordable prices. The company’s Five Star Selection System provides comparative information on different brand names for the best quality and durability for each flooring need. “Because every Flooring America store is locally owned,” stated Pelletier, “each owner is personally invested in providing the highest quality of service. We are all entrepreneurs who stand behind every product and service we provide. Our names are attached to every aspect of our business.”
Opened in 1988 as Wildman Carpet in Woodbury, current owner Tom Pelletier turned the store into a Flooring America co-op store in 2002 and named it Wildman’s Flooring America. “One of the many reasons I chose to franchise with Flooring America is because it is mandatory that every one of Flooring America’s staff members, including owners, pass extensive training and testing programs to become Certified Flooring Experts. This training includes product knowledge, sales and installation training both through Flooring America’s exclusive “Online University” plus numerous manufacturer sponsored seminars held throughout the year. Flooring America has a strong edge over competitors in Connecticut because of this training and testing.”
Pelletier continued, “By being part of a large entity, we can provide our customers with competitive pricing as well as the best warranties in the industry on the products we sell. We are provided with many tools to help streamline our business while making our showrooms more consumer friendly with uniform, attractive, easy-to-shop display systems. We can also provide flooring restoration services to many national insurance companies such as State Farm, Farmers, Allstate, The Hartford, just to name a few.”
The Wildman’s Flooring America store in Woodbury is open Mondays to Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is located in the Sherman Village shopping center on Route 6 at 670 Main Street South, and can be reached 203-266-4689, or on the Web at www.flooringamericact.com.
