International Graduate Institute (IGI)
The IGI is in charge of the postgraduate and master’s studies offered by the University, as well as the open programmes (which do not set the same entry requirements, including the @thenaeum, the Summer School or seminars) and the in-company training. The Institute works in a wide range of areas including health, business (with particular emphasis on e-business and enterprise), city management and cooperation.
Among its priorities is internationalization, both in terms of capturing students and faculty, and links to renowned institutions. The European Higher Education Area is set to standardise the role of master’s degrees, making them an official and prestigious qualification.
The IGI promotes the development of enterprising projects aimed at the UOC community and companies, in the same way that it acts as an intermediary between entrepreneurs and regional bodies that support enterprise. To date, the UOC has provided nine hundred in-company training programmes. Its lifelong learning students are, for the most part, working professionals who are looking to improve their skills.
