The Power And Miracle Of Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father (Matthew 6: 9-13)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 28, 2009 – In the name of God Master, of the Universe, Ruler of the earth

Editors Note: Brethren we are grateful to God as we bear witness to His Truth. Meanwhile some people (may the Lord have mercy on them) hide behind Spam the new Internet Censorship and closed evil doors. These confused souls claim we (FreedomJournal Press) send out a false doctrine. We pity all fools as the Bible renders that a fool is one who rejects knowledge, information and Truth. To reject Truth is to deny God.
“Meanwhile one man spoke for the Lord and another man spoke for the Devil. Who could determine who was who? The lost in the world and many that claim to be in the Church speak for a south bound spirit. However the truly saved speak for the Lord and a northern spirit. John saw many that had been held in captivity fleeing to the north. Many still are in captivity now by choice but the righteous spirit will allow us to find freedom in the Christ.”

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. To the Church (the Church of Christ Jesus the Prophets and Apostles) and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible (the Spirit of God) as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway.

Beloved prayer rules my life as I come depending and leaning on God and Christ. We are grateful for the new break of day as we see something we have never seen before. We also come testifying that God will see us through anything that comes this way. Glory to God.

Meanwhile many people believe that the Lord’s Prayer is a model prayer that should always be used in the church prayer services.  Also there is nothing wrong with praying to God the Father as this is who we pray to. So we come saying “Our Father.”  But what does Jesus teach us about prayer at this place? Follow us now to Matthew 6 where we find this prayer. Our primary verses are 9-13 however we suggest that you pay close attention to verses 5-15 and please review the entire chapter.

Matthew 6: 9-13:  “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” (Also see Luke 11: 2)
Beloved look at the phrase “after this manner.” This indicates that Jesus did not mean that this prayer was a set in stone model. He most likely intended this to be an example of the kind of prayers he wished his trusted and beloved disciples to offer.  Thus one can conclude that this is not a prayer He taught His disciples to pray.  Also most responsible Biblical scholars note that there are no set forms of service as to the wording of them in the church. Lastly here we must note the word hallowed. Bible dictionaries and other authorities note that hallowed is equivalent here to mean that our Father God is holy. Here we make it clear that God is our Father. Although we have a father in the flesh.

Now follow us to several cross references to obtain an even better understanding of this scripture. We pray also that your prayer life will be strengthened. We testify that our prayer life has grown with this study. Glory to God. At Matthew 23 Jesus is dealing with the religious leaders. Then and now many religious leaders move not  with the Wind but an evil spirit that comes from low places and seeks to devour the young and old.

Matthew 23: 9: “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
Sometimes scripture has a clear and concise literal meaning. This happens to be one such scripture.  Meanwhile this verse does not mean our fleshly father as we are commanded by the word to respect our father and mother. It also does not mean the one who leads us to salvation to be born again. For example Paul claimed a great relationship with Timothy (I Timothy 1:1). Thus we see the clear conclusion here that we are not to call any man father as a religious title or one of authority.

At the 8th Division of Romans we see the will of the Holy Spirit and how it frees us from sin. It also places God in His proper perspective for prayer as we pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior the son of God who hung bleed and died on the cross for our sins.

Romans 8: 15-16: “For we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

8: 16: “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”
The freedom from the law for the Jewish Christians entitled them to recognize and note that God is their Father. Meanwhile we see that the Holy Spirit renders what it takes in the Gospels to be a child of God. Thus if one is a child of God, God is your Father.

Return now to our primary scripture found at Matthew 6: 9-13.
Matthew 6: 10: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (Also see Psalms 103:20)
John the Baptist taught that the kingdom of heaven was at hand. Jesus also came with this same message. Thus it was near but it was not established yet. Therefore for the disciples to render a prayer regarding the kingdom to come was a scriptural prayer at that time. But since the kingdom is in earth now to make this request in prayer is unscriptural.

Matthew 6: 11: “Give us this day our daily bread.”
In this short verse we once again see a clear literal meaning. The word Daily is taken from a Greek word that means necessary. Again we see the word teaching us to pray for things we need and not the things we desire. Meanwhile the phrase “this day,” means that they were to offer their prayers daily. But can you also pray for things that you want and desire? Can you pray for a Rolls Royce when one can find adequate transportation in another vehicle that is less expensive?  Will the price of one Rolls Royce purchase several cars for the needy? One man just prayed for transportation. Now look with us over to Proverbs for another word on this subject.

Proverbs 30: 8:” Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:”
Here Agur only wanted to receive what was rightly coming to him and what he needed.

Matthew 6: 12: “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”
Beloved all believers must keep a forgiving heart. If we expect God to forgive us we must be willing to forgive those that are our enemies or have been on the wrong side of faith.

Matthew 6: 13: “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. (Also see Luke 22: 40, 46)
We constantly pray to God for help in the trials of this life and sojourn. This is what we find here. We also note that God will never lead us to wrong doing and sin.
