According to Paul McGuiness of Terrys Fabrics, traditionally the autumn season has always been a busy one for them and the year 2009 is not likely to be different. He however said that the company was pleasantly surprised at the increasing sales in these difficult times.
The difference is that customers are more measured about their spending and not reckless with their credit card. Moreover, this year they are concentrating more on home accessories rather than going for a total revamp of the house.
So the demand for drapes – both ready made and tailored for customers along with other lighting, bedding sets and cushions - have gone up substantially, and have been the top selling items.

Another reason for this increase in curtain poles and curtains according to Terrys Fabrics is the intention of customers to conserve energy and by investing in high quality insulating curtains, they have been able to cut down on their energy bills and do not need to use the room heater so frequently.
