Exploring Critical Issues, the televised series conceived and hosted by Adelphi University President Dr. Robert A. Scott, is in its sixth year of production.  In each hour-long segment, a roundtable of distinguished guests explores a topic of significance to metro-area viewers.  Dr. Scott recently announced new productions to be aired this November — “Keeping the Arts Alive” and “The Real State of Long Island Real Estate.”

“Many people have contributed to the success of Exploring Critical Issues and I am especially grateful to my guests for sharing their thoughts, concerns and solutions on a variety of topics that touch us all,” said Dr. Scott.  “From past episodes on “Aging on Long Island” to “Affordable Housing” to matters of “Fraud” affecting identity, insurance and investments, we explore those issues relevant to our viewers and the times.”

Keeping the Arts ALIVE considers the importance of the arts and the realities faced by organizations and institutions in sustaining cultural programs, especially in a tough economy.  The program features Nicholas Petron, Professor and Chair, Department of Theatre at Adelphi University; Regina Keller Gil, Founder and Executive Director, Great Neck Center for the Visual and Performing Arts; Steven J. Rubin, Acting Dean and Professor of English, College of Arts and Sciences at Adelphi University; and Dale Lewis, Executive Director, Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts.

The Real State of Real Estate provides viewpoints on the current real estate market as covered by factors in construction, architecture, commercial and residential real estate.  The program features Ted Sasso, President, Renaissance Realty Services, LLC; James Retz, Senior Vice President, Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty; Mitchell Rechler, Rechler Equity Partners and President of ABLI; John Tsunis, Chairman, Gold Coast Bank, Chairman and CEO, Long Island Hotels, LLC, and Land Use Attorney, Tsunis, Gasparis, and Lustig, LLC.

Exploring Critical Issues airs this November on Monday mornings at 9:30 a.m., Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10:30 p.m.   Keeping the Arts ALIVE will air during the weeks of November 2nd and 9th, and the segment The Real State of Real Estate, the weeks of November 16th and 23rd.

Exploring Critical Issues is seen by over four million households in the Long Island/New York Metropolitan/Connecticut area on Cablevision Channel 29 and Verizon Fios TV Channel 296, and worldwide over the web. The show has earned three Telly Awards, the cable equivalent of the Emmy.

As the engaged University, Adelphi is proud to sponsor Exploring Critical Issues to provide scholars, advocates, and other distinguished guests with a forum in which to explore critical local, regional, national, and global topics, such as the environment, health, business, the arts, politics, law, and government regulations.
