PR Log (Press Release) –
Oct 27, 2009 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – The nomination process is open for the 2010 Leadership Awards at Washington Area Women’s Foundation.
The Leadership Awards Program invests in the work of outstanding, emerging community-based organizations that exhibit vision and impact in serving the critical needs of women and girls. Each year, the Leadership Awards recognize innovative nonprofit organizations in the Washington metropolitan area working to positively impact the lives of women and girls in a given issue area.
This year’s Leadership Awards theme is “Between the Cracks & at the Intersections.”
The winners will be nonprofit organizations from our region that are working to positively impact the lives of women and girls from under-resourced, oppressed, or marginalized communities (groups of women that, all too often, fall “between the cracks”), or organizations that are doing innovative work at the intersection of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, ability, etc. in their communities.
A committee of volunteers will help choose the 10 winning organizations, which will each win a $10,000 grant. An online vote will allow anyone to cast a vote for the organization of their choice to get an additional $5,000 award.
For information on how to nominate an organization for a Leadership Award, please go online to http://community.thewomensfoundation.org/netcommunity/LAnom, call (202)347-7737, or email ncozier(at)wawf.org. The deadline for submissions is November 3rd at 5pm.
