FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PR Log (Press Release) –
Oct 27, 2009 – Kollodis BioSciences, Inc. announced that it has entered into a collaborative agreement with Lifeace Co. Ltd. to develop and commercialize Kollodis' recombinant mussel adhesive protein (MAP) compositions for use as cosmetic glues and related adhesive applications. Kollodis has demonstrated that MAP-based adhesive compositions can be used as eyelash glues in a simple cost-effective manufacturing process.
Mussel adhesive proteins have long been recognized as being biocompatible, environmentally- friendly, and effective bioadhesives for a wide variety of applications including consumer and cosmetic applications. Dr. Louis M. Scarmoutzos, President and CEO of Kollodis BioSciences, states "Mussel MAP-based adhesive compositions provide gentle, non-irritating adhesion even to the most delicate of skins."
The agreement calls for Lifeace to fund the development and commercialization of cosmetic glue products using Kollodis’ proprietary MAP technology. Lifeace will pay an undisclosed up-front fee to acquire the intellectual property for formaldehyde-free eyelash glue applications as well as options to acquire additional products developed in the collaboration.
