Nokia N97 Mini
Following on from the success of the N-Series N97, Nokia has now released the new Nokia N97 Mini phone, a cut down version in terms of overall dimaensions and weight but not so much on the features.
The Nokia N97 Mini has been explained by Nokia as being aimed at the youth and fashion market, the company believes there is a gap to fill for those that want as many features as possible but without the weight and bulk that this usually produces.
The Nokia N97 Mini manages to do this perfectly with a very similar feature set to the original Nokia N97 and yet pocket friendly for those out and about.
This new slide-out Qwerty keyboard Nokia phone has been exclusively released by Vodafone and is already seeing good sales volumes.

The N97 Mini is a smaller version of its namesake. It offers a similar array of features and uses the ARM 11 434 MHz processor for its central processing capabilities. The addition of the Symbian OS v9.4 operating system simply adds to its appeal. Recently released, it is expected to cause quite a stir.
A 3.2 inch TFT touch screen is the mainstay of the handset with a pixel resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. It offers excellent colour reproduction because it is able to display 16 million colours. The phone comes with several sensors which includes proximity and accelerometer sensors.
The sensors alleviate some issues by automatically conducting some mundane tasks such as amending the aspect of images and saving battery power by switching the handset off when not in use. A full QWERTY keyboard is located behind the screen and is a useful asset.
The camera provided with the phone is a 5.0 megapixel camera that comes with a whole host of additional extras. The camera operates at a pixel resolution of 2592 x 1944 and provides excellent quality images. This is in part due to the fact that Nokia have incorporated Carl Zeiss optics into the camera. As a means of ensuring picture quality, the user can reap the benefits of auto focus and a dual LED to ensure quality of image, whilst the increasingly popular geo tagging is available as well.
The ability to record and playback video is integral to the success of many handsets in the modern era and this unit offers VGA quality and 30 frames per second recording. The inclusion of a video light is an unusual but useful addition, as is the integrated secondary camera. For those who like to edit their images and videos on the fly, the phone comes with software that offers the ability to edit the media.
Connectivity is provided by the GPRS, EDGE, Blue tooth and USB connections, with the ability to share files and synchronise with a PC high on the list of desired tasks. Internet access is provided by the HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections which offer web browsing either through its own connection or via available hot spots. Satellite navigation is provided by the GPS with A-GPS function and includes the popular Nokia maps.
The MP3/MP4 player is always a popular addition to any phone. With the phone having 8 Gb of memory storage, plenty of media can be stored and downloaded. Local and national radio stations are available via the FM stereo radio. The phone comes with a suite of extras, which include a document viewer as well as a digital compass and flash lite 3.
The Nokia N97 Mini is compact in size as the name suggest. It is 113 mm x 52 mm wide and 14 mm thick. It weighs 138 grams. It is a useful addition to the Nokia range and offers a different option to the full size model. Its recent release has been eagerly anticipated and it is sure to become a firm favourite.
