Seattle, WA - Dr. Gryskiewicz presented SELPHYL™ to plastic surgeons during the Hot Topics session of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in Seattle, WA
SELPHYL™ platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM), a completely natural autologous tissue regeneration technology developed by Aesthetic Factors, was recently presented by Dr. Gryskiewicz to an audience of roughly 300 plastic surgeons during the Hot Topics session of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) medical convention in Seattle, WA.
In his presentation, Dr. Gryskiewicz talked about SELPHYL™, a breakthrough new system that produces an injectable PRFM for the treatment of wrinkles and skin depressions.
Plastic Surgeons or dermatologists draw a small volume of blood from the patient and, through a patented process, the SELPHYL™ System separates and concentrates the patient’s own platelets and fibrin into a matrix. The resulting PRFM is injected into a treatment area (face or body) to stimulate cell proliferation, which promotes the increase of volume and rejuvenation of the skin through a process of guided tissue regeneration.
Dr. Gryskiewicz explained that pronounced effects occur as early as three weeks after the procedure. The effect of SELPHYL™ PRFM has been shown to last beyond a year and a half in clinical studies in Japan as well as in the US.
Dr. Gryskiewicz stated that it is thought that SELPHYL™ PRFM treats the root cause of the problem by triggering the production of new cells and collagen, a key structural element of the skin.
Dr. Gryskiewicz also stated that SELPHYL™ PRFM has received FDA 510(k) class II clearance and obtained CE Mark.
In a short video, Dr. Gryskiewicz showed that the entire procedure lasts less than twenty minutes in the physician’s office. The SELPHYL™ System is highly cost effective as one blood draw will produce four 1cc syringes of PRFM, possibly allowing full face rejuvenation to be performed.
In his conclusion, Dr. Gryskiewicz explained that the SELPHYL™ System offers a simple, reproducible, hypoallergenic, and cost effective method of growing the patient’s own tissue to fill skin depressions, wrinkles, and folds without using synthetic, plastic or animal-derived materials.
