According to Michael Balk, M.D., FACC, and managing partner with Northside Cardiology, P.C., these new physician additions build on the practice commitment to provide the highest level of clinical excellence in cardiovascular health care and further expand interventional and electrophysiology cardiology services to patients and referring physicians across metro-Atlanta.
“We are honored to welcome Dr. Marcus Brown and Dr. Mohammed Kooshkabadi to our growing practice. These two highly-trained physicians collectively bring with them years of experience in cardiac health care and complement the board-certified team of cardiologists we have in place to offer patients,” said Michael Balk, M.D., FACC. “Both doctors will be invaluable to our team and allow our practice to broaden the procedures and services offered by Northside Cardiology, P.C., for our patients.”
Both cardiologists joining Northside Cardiology, P.C. completed their medical training in the Atlanta area and fellowships and residency at nationally esteemed hospitals in the field of cardiovascular medicine including Johns Hopkins and Emory University Hospital.
Dr. Marcus Brown received his M.D. from Morehouse School of Medicine, completed a cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiovascular disease fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His work experience also includes serving as house physician at Baptist Hospitals of Alabama and St. Vincent’s Hospital, both in Birmingham. He is board-certified in cardiology, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine, and board eligible in interventional cardiology. Dr. Brown has contributed to or authored several cardiology research publications, including The Osler Medical Journal of The Johns Hopkins Hospital (April 2000), and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Serving as an interventional cardiologist with Northside Cardiology, Dr. Brown will specialize in cardiac catheterization,
Dr. Mohammed Kooshkabadi received his M.D. from the Emory University School of Medicine, completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Columbia University Medical Center, a clinical cardiology fellowship at Emory University Hospital and a clinical electrophysiology fellowship at Emory. A board certified physician in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Kooshkabadi is board eligible for cardiac electrophysiology, the cardiology specialty that diagnoses and treats heart arrhythmias. Some of his medical areas of focus include pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and management, holter and event monitoring, and echocardiography. As an electrophysiologist with Northside Cardiology, Dr. Kooshkabadi will treat arrhythmia, which is any deviation from or disturbance of the heart's normal rhythm. He will use the most advanced technology to detect, diagnose and treat arrhythmias through a minimally invasive procedure called cardiac ablation, medication, pacemakers and/or surgical procedures.
