FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 26, 2009 – Middletown, OH -- For residential architects and builders seeking fiber drainage board that meets sustainable environmental standards, brown is the new green. Details can be found in Marflex Building Solutions’ newest brochure that features five green foundation waterproofing products.

Until now, Drain & Dry was yellow, but it’s changed to brown because it’s made from sand, post-consumer recycled glass, and a proprietary ECOSE Technology binder that eliminates the formaldehyde and phenols found in traditional binders and insulation.

“ECOSE Technology converts bio-based materials into an inert polymer that bonds mineral wool strands together,” said Brett Oakley, Chief Executive Officer of Marflex. “So now, when you see brown Drain & Dry, you’ll immediately know it’s the only “green” fiber drainage board on the market.”

A safe, dry foundation requires more than just waterproofing membrane. A high-quality drainage board is recommended to eliminate hydrostatic pressure and channel water away from the waterproofing membrane.

“The common method for waterproofing is to apply a membrane to the exterior foundation wall. This one-step process seals gaps in the concrete, but does not provide adequate protection from moisture buildup,” says Oakley. “As a result, you can get leaks, cracks and a buildup of mold over time. With a two-part membrane and drainage board system, you get the best protection against moisture buildup, which helps deter mold and mildew, to keep a foundation dry all year long.

Drain & Dry comes in three thicknesses -- 3/4”, 1-3/16” and 2-3/8” -- to meet different building and budget requirements, and delivers up to 190 gal./hr./lin. ft. of drainage and an R-Value up to 10.

“For green-build projects and LEED contribution, Drain & Dry delivers excellent drainage, high R-Value, and backfill protection in a single product,“ said Dave Nichols, VP Marketing for Marflex. “In sand, topsoil or light clay areas where drainage, insulation and the environment are top concerns, no other fiber drainage board compares.”

Since 1984, Marflex Building Solutions’ mission has been to ensure the safest, driest environments possible by creating the world’s finest above- and below-grade building envelope systems.
