However, Computer Planet, one of the UK’s leading provider of custom built PCs and high performance PCs, explains why desktops should not be disregarded altogether.
A spokesperson from Computer Planet, which also offers a range of gaming PCs, said, “The desktop PC is not dependent on a battery – so even though you might be able to enjoy working from your garden thanks to your wireless laptop, the ‘low battery’ warning will appear sooner or later, so in that respect, there are fantastic advantages in using a desktop PC. For example, these also allow for high performance – and some would say that the focus on laptops and netbooks has not been to enhance their performance features but instead on the size and the ‘on-the-go’
The laptop has its advantages, especially for those of you have an aversion to wires or love your PC so much that you find it difficult to part with it. However, the lack of work on features such as performance and graphics may have compromised the overall perception of the laptop.
The spokesperson added, “If you want to pay a little less and get a lot more, the desktop really is the way forward. While the popularity of laptops has certainly increased, it is certainly arguable that when it comes to performance and gaming, the desktops is the prevailing winner.”
