SEC LinkedIn network reveals huge increase in people planning to enter education consultancy

Adam Caller explains how joining the SEC LinkedIn network is the first step for many planning to enter education consultancy, providing a measure of industry trends

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 26, 2009 -
The Society of Education Consultants reports a large increase in the number of people planning to enter the education consultancy industry, indicated by a rise in requests to join the SEC LinkedIn network. As the LinkedIn SEC network is open to all people in education consultancy, including those considering a move into that career prior to joining the SEC itself, the rise in numbers reflects the growing popularity of education consultancy as a career. For more information, visit www.sec.org.uk or call 0845 345 7932.

Adam Caller, Marketing Officer for the SEC, runs the LinkedIn network for the society. "There has been a significant increase in enquiries from people interested in joining the profession," he commented. "They have clearly been searching on the internet for appropriate networks, discovering the SEC through LinkedIn and joined the group there. Some of our LinkedIn group members have joined before making the transition into their new education consultancy career and I think it's a very sensible approach. It enables them to meet people in the LinkedIn group and form important professional networks ready for when they are ready to become consultants."

When asked why the SEC LinkedIn group is open to non-members, Adam replied; "We generally find that if people are not yet education consultants, but are thinking of moving into that career, they like to connect on LinkedIn first, and then join the SEC when they become consultants. By talking to other members in the LinkedIn group they hear about the benefits, such as the weekly Exploratorium, and many members say that's worth more than the membership fee in the time saved by the document. I see the open LinkedIn group as a means to enable new education consultants to get to know us and what we offer before having to make a commitment, thereby helping everybody involved."

Formed in 1990, the Society of Education Consultants serves professionals working across the whole education and children's services spectrum. The range of SEC members encompasses consultants who work as individuals, in partnerships, or in association with larger consultancies or organisations. Members also have access to a comprehensive professional indemnity insurance scheme at preferential rates.

The second function of the SEC is to provide a one stop shop to individuals, education and children's services managers and governors, whether in schools, LEAs, higher education establishments, or other institutions looking for high quality professional help and support.
