FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 25, 2009 – My Architect offers homeowners a unique, pay-as-you-go system that lets them use the skills and services of an architect as much or as little as they want. Customers can consult an architect to simply gain initial ideas, advice and inspiration. Or they can use an architect for a wide range of further services by choosing the specific items they need from a service menu on a 'pay-as-you-go' basis. It’s entirely the homeowners’ choice.

My Architect is suitable for all kinds of renovation projects regardless of their size, com¬plexity or budget, from extensions and additional levels, to internal space reconfiguration for a changing lifestyle.

As My Architect Director, Robert Harwood, explains, “My Architect is all about streamlining and simplifying architectural services and making them more cost-effective. For a fixed fee of $750 (+GST), homeowners can now come away after an initial half day visit from an architect with an outline proposal for their renovation, design options, sketch drawings, advice on planning/building regulations and likely costs for their renovation or extension going forward.”

Harwood, himself a registered architect, developed this company in response to what he believes is a growing interest amongst Australian homeowners in employing architects to help them renovate or improve their homes.

“Australians definitely do value good design and recognize the benefits an architect brings. Exposure to the rising quality of design in everyday life has helped create a newly informed breed of Australian homeowners who are not only looking at how to maximise value but who also demand better design. They’re seeking more accessible, more affordable solutions when it comes to advice on design inspiration, drawings, planning and building.”

The increasing interest in employing architects on residential projects is reiterated in the current Home Buying Guide on the ANZ website, as it suggests that, “For a growing number of people, home has become an expression of themselves and their lifestyle. Architects have become a conduit for that vision.
Over the past six years, the value of home renovations in Australia has jumped 36 per cent from $2.6 billion to $3.6 billion.
The shift to inner-city living has also lifted the profile of architects as home owners are faced with rigorous planning and space limits and look to architects for solutions.”

My Architect is based in bayside Melbourne and the Geelong/Surf Coast region and will be expanding to Sydney in 2010. For more details about My Architect, contact Cate Rayson or visit www.my-architect.com.au

My Architect. Affordable. Accessible. Architectural Design

About My Architect
My Architect was created by architect, Robert Harwood. Returning home following a period of practising overseas, he realised just how much Australian homeowners value good design. He recognised, however, that many Australians are unsure about employing an architect.

Robert believed that this unease was due mainly to architects’ traditional means of service delivery and that customers were worried about controlling their costs. My Architect was developed to address this uncertainty and to make architectural services accessible and affordable to Australian homeowners.
