Little Pickle Press Publishes First Children’s Books By Rana Diorio And Illustrated By Chris Hill

Oct. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA. --“What Does it Mean to Be Global?” is the first published title in a “What Does It Mean To Be….” series written by Rana DiOrio, illustrated by Chris Hill and published by Little Pickle Press.  Following Little Pickle’s mission of “helping parents and educators cultivate conscious, responsible young minds”, Rana was looking for an illustrator who could authentically support this vision with her art. With her thoughtful style and in-depth understanding of children, Chris Hill of Mackie Mack emerged as the clear choice.  

Chris Hill is the inspiration and talent behind Mackie Mack, an established stationery and apparel line based around the central values of having fun, teaching independence and growing good citizen kids.  Her refreshingly simple and energetic character-based art depicts active children and families enjoying a variety of sports, games and interests.  Chris’s own philosophy of empowering kids with a sense of responsibility, independence and an “I can do it!” attitude has evolved through her many years working in education, being a parent and owning and operating her business. Chris’ aspirations for kids are very much in sync with Rana’s ideology in the “What Does it Mean To Be…” series, as she feels that “this (creating the book) has been a cohesive partnership from the very beginning”.  “From the first moment we sat down, our ideas have been focused on supporting Little Pickle’s ambition of “wanting to improve the quality of messages we create for young impressionable minds.”  

“What Does it Mean to be Green?” is scheduled to be published in Spring of 2010 and will be followed by “What Does it Mean to be Present?” in the Fall.  Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of the book will happily go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation as a way to make the message of good citizenship a reality and help children in need all over the world.  The book can be purchased from both www.littlepicklepress.com and www.mackiemack.com
