“This is something we rarely get to enjoy in the Phoenix Metro area. Most of the popular venues rarely showcase live R&B acts,” said Owner and CEO, Sheane Rutherford of Ruttown Records. “R&B groups, like ‘Heat’ are even rarer. People would be glad to know there is a showcase, where they can come get their grown and sexy on.”
UB’s Bar & Grill located at 1911 West Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85202 will house the event. With its spacious stage and professional sound system, it was ideal to host the first annual showcase there. Hood Access, a local, independent Hip Hop and R&B radio show will attend and interview artists seeking airplay and exposure. Anyone attending the event can pay $5 at the door, if they bring a Hip Hop, Rap, or R&B CD, said DJ Hipnotik of Hood Access. “Hood Access is sponsoring the event and will be collecting CDs, to build its local music library.” She added, “I agree about the lack of venues showcasing R&B. It’s really sad. There’s so much undiscovered talent out there. It is Hood Access’ mission to help labels, like Ruttown Records, shine that spotlight on the local talent. I’m so excited Heat will be performing!”
