Oct. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Yakima, Wash. - A group of Washington State Hispanic & Latino Growers recently held a protest (see attached photo) against John Deere Credit.  Specifically, the farmers and their workers are concerned about John Deere Credit unilaterally foreclosing on and/or liquidating some Hispanic or Latino owned farms in the Lower Yakima Valley.

The protesters are demanding that John Deere Credit work with the affected Hispanic-Latino farmers to restructure their loans.

As John Deere recently received over $2 billion in Federal Government Bailout funding (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122943629459610297.html), the protesters are also urging John Deere Credit to utilize government loan guarantees to provide credit to the affected Hispanic-Latino farmers in the Yakima Valley.

According to the protesters, if John Deere Credit continues to foreclose on the above mentioned Latino/Hispanic farmers and does not work with these farmers to restructure their loans, it will cause an immediate negative impact on the local economy and cause the farmers to have to layoff hundreds of workers.

Additionally, the protesters expressed a great deal of concern about unfair treatment and discrimination against Latino-Hispanic farmers, especially concerning the lack of access to loans as recently reported in the news
