You might not know who Michelle Renee is yet, but you will. With musical influences covering the scope of music from Minnie Ripperton, Teedra Moses, The Doors and Prince just to name a few, the 23-year-old songstress is a musical force to be reckoned with and just might be the most played artist on your iPod in the very near future.
Minnesota native and raised in Willis, Texas she moved to New York City after college to pursue her singing career. She began to make the rounds amongst the New York artist circuit, singing at the popular Maria Davis artist showcase, R&B legends Nick Ashford & Valerie Simpson’s Sugar Bar and performing at every open mic night that she could get to. Her hard work paid off when she was given the opportunity to tour as a back-up singer with Def Jam Recording artist Chrisette Michele along side Musiq Soulchild on the “LuvanMusiq”
Fast forward to 2009 and Michelle is currently working on her first solo project, A Cinderella Story, scheduled for release Spring 2010, and is more than ready to prove to the industry, to her fans and to the world that her gift of song and the art of performance is definitely not a fairytale.
