Oct. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, California – United States – CleanWater.com, a non profit group made up of students from USC Marshall and San Jose State University, has conducted a study of water softeners for the benefit of California consumers. The study is a comparison based on the benefits and drawbacks of certain manufacturer’s water softener systems.

The specific water softeners compared on the CleanWater.com website are the Pelican™ PS80, Aqua-Pure AWS200M, and the EWS - 1354. The comparisons are in the categories of Removes Chlorine & Chemicals, Retains Healthy Minerals, Testing & Certification (Certified Capacity), Automatic Self Cleaning, Claimed Filter Capacity, Total Monthly Cost, and Total Cost of 15-year Ownership.

“We wanted to measure the cost of installation and daily use for each of these products so that consumers could make an educated decision before investing in one of them,” said a spokesperson from the organization. “We also wanted to highlight the benefits and dispel some of the myths about water softeners and water purifiers.”

In addition to water softener systems, Cleanwater.com also does comparisons on their website of different water purifying systems, including whole home and drinking water filters. Their studies have led them to the conclusion that purifying the drinking water coming out of the tap is the safest and most cost effective way to ensure that supplies of clean water are not exhausted.

“The bottled water industry would have you believe that the consumption of their water products is the safest way to prevent the intake of bacteria and other harmful elements into your body through drinking water,” said our spokesperson. “Our studies tell us that home purification is more cost effective and will provide cleaner and safer drinking water for you and your family.”
