Medisim Receives Second U.S. Patent for Digital Temple Touch Thermometers

Rapidly-growing company receives patent for brand-new, conductive forehead thermometers that aim to set new standard in temperature measurement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 23, 2009 – Medisim Inc., a global leader in diagnostic tools for temperature measurement and other devices that help medical professionals meet contemporary clinical challenges, announced today that it has been awarded a U.S. patent for "Non-Invasive Temperature Measurement” technology.

The U.S. patent covers a unique technology to allow for non-invasive measurement of core body temperature using conduction rather than infra-red (IR) technology.  IR technology has shown to have several disadvantages, which Medisim's unique technology overcomes.  The company’s digital temple thermometers, known as Temple Touch Thermometers, accurately measure body heat using state-of-the-art technology to track heat flow generated from blood vessels to the skin's surface, and converts this measurement to body temperature.

Medisim makes the world’s only patented, non-invasive, temple thermometers that do not use IR technology, and the instruments are so groundbreaking that they have created a new category in body temperature measurement called “conductive forehead thermometers.”

Adds John Wilson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Medisim-USA, “Medisim’s Temple Touch thermometers are truly so revolutionary and practical that we fully expect them to set the new standard for the way Americans measure fevers at home and in medical settings.”

Temple Touch thermometers are quickly gaining popularity among U.S. consumers because they are non-invasive, fool-proof, affordable, and deliver results quickly in just 6-7 seconds after touching the probe to the temple. Because of this sensitivity, they are ideal for use on a sleeping infant or child, and are preferable alternatives to common digital stick and IR thermometers.

The Temple Touch Mini  is currently sold under the ReliOn® brand at Walmart for $9.94, and the Temple Touch Premium is currently sold under the Walgreen’s® brand for $29.99.
The company will soon be introducing Medisim branded versions of both products.

All Temple Touch thermometers are powered by another of Medisim’s patented technologies, R.A.T.E.™ (Rapid, Accurate, Temperature, Establishment), the algorithm that accurately calculates heat flow in the blood vessels to the skin's surface and converts it to body temperature.

More information about Medisim and R.A.T.E.™ technology can be found at www.Medisim-Ltd.com or at www.Medisim-USA.com, the site for its U.S. subsidiary.
