Jhoseph King is known for building custom metal body guitars and gold-layered instruments for some of the biggest names in the music industry.
King has just upped the ante, he is proud to announce that he has created The GOLDCASTER, the World’s first and only solid gold guitar. There have been numerous gold plate guitars built over the years but The GOLDCASTER is the only guitar with a solid 18K body and custom handmade solid 18K gold hardware.
According to King, “I was inspired by the California Gold Rush era, where anything was possible. I set out to create the ultimate guitar unlike anything anyone has as ever seen or heard before. In addition to sounding amazing, The GOLDCASTER is a beautiful piece of art.”
Currently the GOLDCASTER "001" is the very first of King’s new line and is the only guitar ever made that features a solid 18 karat gold top and bridge. King also hand machined the saddles, strap buttons, nut, string tree, neck plate, ferrules, knobs, and switch knobs all out of solid 18 karat gold. In addition, the lettering and logo on the headstock are also solid 18 karat gold.
The solid gold top has 2 f-holes and a 3” sound hole with custom art work and is highly polished to a mirror finish. It is fused to a hand carved hollow body made of swamp ash and stained. The 4 custom engraved Lace Alumatones pickups are specially wired to an 11-way pickup/switching system by utilizing a 5-way and a 3-way switch, delivering 11 uniquely gorgeous tones. The highly figured maple neck is also custom stained and has medium jumbo frets and abalone inlays.
This precious instrument took 2 years to design and 5 months to complete. The visual and sonic qualities are stunning and exclusive making it an instant collectible and a great investment. King intends to partner with a non-profit organization that has ties to the music community and auctioning this one of a kind work of art later this year with one-third of the sales price being donated to the charity.
In addition King has two prototypes of The GOLDCASTER, which are nearly identical yet are 24 K gold plate. He also intends to auction both, again with 1/3 of the sales price going to charity.
