PETCO comes to Emeryville with 1000th store at Regency Centers' Powell Street Plaza in Emeryville CA

PR Log (Press Release) – Oct 22, 2009 – Regency Centers (regencycenters.com), a national owner, operator and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers, has leased retail space in Emeryville at Powell Street Plaza shopping center to PETCO.  The pet products retailer leased 12,558 square feet of space to feature supplies and services. The store will also serve as a local pet adoption center and information destination for pet owners and companion pet enthusiasts.

PETCO is slated to open its milestone, 1000th store location at Powell Street Plaza on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 – 25. Activities will include a Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest on Saturday at 2 p.m., a Pet/Owner Lookalike Contest on Sunday at 2 p.m. and interviews with adoption groups, new pet parents and PETCO representatives on both days. The shopping center is located at Powell Street and Christie Ave. in Emeryville, CA.

According to Doug Shaffer, Regency Centers senior vice president, the PETCO store in Emeryville will serve a highly populated area of San Francisco Bay. “We are proud to welcome PETCO to our center. The company is an industry leader in animal care with store locations throughout the United States, along with the renowned PETCO Foundation which has raised more than $50 million to help promote the welfare of companion animals,” said Shaffer.

Powell Street Plaza is a 169,419 square foot shopping center with top national and regional retailers including Trader Joe’s, Ross Dress for Less, Beverages and More!. The shopping center is located approximately 11 miles northeast of San Francisco and three miles northwest of Oakland.
