The language of green is slowly becoming included in common conversation. The term “carbon footprint” just became an official part of our vocabulary this year when it was added to the Merriam Webster Dictionary.
As companies go green and advertisements tout green claims, the public is faced with learning the language of green, as well as what it represents.
It reminds one of the early Internet days, when ISP, URL and Dot Com were foreign terms referring to seemingly complex, unknown technologies. A similar learning curve is taking place in the green space.
There are a number of online green glossaries and dictionaries that have been created to offer definitions. There has not been a definitive resource in the blogosphere until now thanks to Seasons Greenings.net, with the launch of its Green Word A Day widget, which can be installed on any blog or website.
The widget is a compact little frame that sits on a blog or site and gets updated daily with a new green term. The widget code brings in ‘live’ content – terms, links, images – from a third party site GreenWordADay.com without the web site owner having to update or manage. In the this case, there is also another content stream, accessible by a tab entitled ‘resources’
The widget is available for no charge at http://www.widgetbox.com/
