Atlanta, GA- Saxophonic, a music trio blending live saxophone, percussion and DJ sounds, is performing at several of the Tuesday night Taste events hosted by the Buckhead Ritz-Carlton and Mogul PR. The weekly Taste ‘Dinnertainment’
Saxophonic is headed by musician and saxophonist Jeffrey Gaines, who created the group’s name and concept in 1997. “Back then I played sax in a band called Vedado,” he recalled. “One night after a show at Crescent Room in Midtown, a club owner approached me and asked me if I’d ever considered doing live improvisation with a DJ, which is how the idea was born.”
Within months, Saxophonic was a fixture at Atlanta venues such as Club 1150 (now Opera), Nomenclature, and Bazaar. Eventually, Gaines expanded his clientele to include corporate events, weddings, philanthropy projects and restaurant openings. His résumé boasts of appearances at several high-profile events, including Jeffrey Fashion Cares, Men Stopping Violence Awards Dinner, Elton John/ Billie Jean King Smash Hits tennis charity event, and The Atlantan Magazine Modern Luxury Bridal Show. Saxophonic now enjoys an enthusiastic and rapidly growing Atlanta fan-base. Gaines attributes the group’s success to the combination of the unique, danceable sound and their ability to tailor the music to virtually any genre. Saxophonic music genres include everything from Dance, Rock, Hip-Hop and Lounge to more eclectic styles such as Reggae, Indie, and Electronica.
“I think Atlantans prefer to go beyond the traditional, expected means of entertainment,”
“I highly recommend Jeff Gaines with Saxophonic,”
“Saxophonic is a completely unique experience in sound,” agreed Matthew Thomas, an Agent and Event Producer for EastCoast Entertainment. “With their blend of live music instruments and DJ, they’re able to customize the play list for any event, and Jeff’s showmanship undoubtedly enhances the vibe of the party.”
These days, Saxophonic shows no sign of slowing down. They’re booked for various events 3-4 times a week on average, and Gaines couldn’t be happier. “I’ve played the sax since I was 10 years old,” he said. “I’m so fortunate to be able to follow my passion and contribute to some great corporations, events and charities.”
