This is one of the most creative methods I have found online for sometime, and it is literally turning prices upside down. Viewprice.com starts their prices at the same price other discount warehouses and ecommerce sites are at. However, here is where it gets very, very interesting...every time anyone views of the price of a product, the price or cost actually reduces until a shopper decides the product price is too good to pass up and makes a purchase at which point the dropping of the price stops.
As a result, with www.viewprice.com, the buyers end up paying the lowest price.
Viewprice.com offers hundreds of products for visitors, in a wide range of product categories. Those interested in a product pay only pennies to view the current low price at that exact time. They can then choose to buy it the product or wait for the price to drop further. The next shopper will find the price to be even lower, and so on until a buyer decides to click on the 'Buy Now' button and make the purchase. Viewprice has termed it: 'Collective Buying Power.'
When asked how this compares to auctions CEO Joel Skretvedt answers: "Whenever you make a bid with the big boys of online auction sites, your bid raises the price. The one who is willing to pay the most takes home the product. Viewprice changes all that. Every buyer will be the one who pays the lowest price. Viewprice was created to bring the power of collective buying to consumers directly online, saving customers time, gas, money & membership fees compared to traditional shopping at any other retailer or discount warehouse."
Viewprice, which made its official debut Tuesday, October 6th, is making a limited time offer to first-time visitors providing five free bids. To receive the five free bids, first time visitors simply watch the 1 minute "How Viewprice Works" video on the their home page at http://www.viewprice.com. I did so and it is interesting that I found a new $200 xbox 360 for under $160. The power of collective buying as a group makes sense; I see how the benefits but caution those reading that it could become addictive as I decided to grab the xbox 360 for my son! The way I see it is this: It's is a very compelling newer form of compare shopping and seems to work very well.
