Bible Text Message FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PR Log (Press Release) –
Oct 21, 2009 – A small start-up called TheBibleNow.org launched services earlier this month offering a daily Bible verse via mobile text message. While an admittedly simple concept, there is much more to the service than a daily Bible verse. In addition to providing a service to subscribers, 90% of the proceeds generated from the service are donated to other faith-based charities.
According to Trey Romero, the web site's creator, "TheBibleNow.org is a sincere attempt to reintegrate the Word of God back into our daily lives. While there are companies online who will do this for free through email or other media, we saw text message as a huge opportunity to reach more Christians. Furthermore, charging a small fee for the service gives subscribers a new, creative and convenient way of supporting a number of Christian charities." In addition to helping other Christians and charitable groups, the site is a personal attempt by Trey to do more in service of the Lord. For the past five years he has worked as a marketing manager and research analyst and while he does not regret the experience, he always felt something was missing. It wasn’t until earlier this year, after four months of unemployment, that he realized what it was. Looking back on his professional history and the state of his current life he realized that somewhere along the line he became a passive Christian. Trey continued, "I strongly feel that I could have done more with the last five years for the Lord and now that I am approaching my thirties I wish to ensure that I do more with the next five. I have poured my heart and soul into this project and sincerely hope it will become a resource for fellow Christians, those seeking the Lord and a number of Christian charities." Signing up for the service takes less than a minute and requires nothing more than a cell phone. Currently the site has three charity groups from which subscribers can choose. During the sign-up process subscribers can choose their preferred donation group or choose to have the donated proceeds split evenly among all groups. Below are the groups currently available to choose from with a number of other Christian charities being added in the coming weeks. Aspen Project: Bringing kids home. Focus: To provide support and direction for those who hear the calling to adopt or foster a child. To provide counseling for those who have questions regarding pre and post adoption/ fostering. Casas Por Cristo: Building homes, changing lives, saving the lost. Focus: A non-denominational mission organization that seeks to build partnerships between churches in the United States and needy families in Juarez, Mexico. GC Alliance: To serve God in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Focus: To create a strategic partnership between one or more churches in El Salvador with one or more churches in Albuquerque. The purpose of this partnership is to combine resources and talents into shared outreach and missions efforts. While the goal of the site is not to replace a conventional Bible study, a daily text message can be a great reminder or source of encouragement. With 90% of the proceeds going directly to Christian charities this seeming simple concept is sure to succeed.
