WIth years of experience in newspaper, magazine, direct mail, electronic and SEO marketing, I am here to offer you 5 tips on how to create an effective marketing campaign this holiday season.
TIP 1
Know your audience and target them- With over 3,000 messages hitting the average American in a given day, better your chances of being noticed by targeting them specifcally.
TIP 2
Brand Yourself- Everyone knows the Golden Arches as a symbol for McDonald's, but what do they know you for? You have to create a consistent look and feel to all of your ads so consumers will recognize you.
TIP 3
It Takes Money to Make Money- Don't think of advertising as an expense, rather an investment. Though word of mouth is great, look to get into new circles and expand your client base.
TIP 4
Ask For More- With endless options out there, narrow the field for yourself. Ask would be reps what more they can do. Typically business owners want a better price. That's a rookie mistake. Sales people are likely to give you a patented response. Instead, you should ask for more service or coverage. You can put your ad anywhere, but what else are they willing to do to go above the sale?
TIP 5
Track Your Response- This is done most easily with couponing. If that's a direction you take, remember that it is not just the shear number of coupons you get back but the ROI. What was the average ticket price? Where they new customers? Did you give them incentive to come back? From the answers to this, you will also learn that cheaper isn't always better (refer to tip 3)
