My daughter has just discovered that there is a difference between play and real jewelry. I think it is a sign that she is growing up. She is going from wanting dolls and stickers to wanting jewelry and makeup. I am not sure I am ready for her to grow up. It is strange seeing her change and grow-up so fast. As much as I would like her to stay a child I know I need to help her become an adult. I want her to develop into a confident young lady.
To do so I need to let her play with make-up and jewelry now, at home. That way she can explore and make her mistakes and learn from them now. I am going to use the internet to teach her about fashion and classic designs. We are also going to go and have our make-up done together. That way she can learn what looks good on her. That is more important than being the most fashionable. If she has the confidence she will wear what is flattering to her rather then what everyone else is wearing.
