SCDM Board of Trustee Elections Strengthen Global Focus

2010 officers boast expertise of worldwide markets, will help Society expand global relevance
 
Oct. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- MILWAUKEE – The Society for Clinical Data Management recently announced results of elections for Board of Trustees members and officers.

Board elects first international officer
Nimita Limaye, CCDM, was elected as vice chair for 2010. Limaye, vice president of CDM and medical writing at SIRO Clinpharm in Mumbai, India, is the first non-North American to serve as an officer on the SCDM Board of Trustees. Under SCDM’s leadership progression, Limaye will assume the Chair in 2011.

“SCDM has a clear vision of expanding its global spread and India is a key market in this growth,” Limaye said. “I express my gratitude to the other Board members for the trust they have placed in me to contribute strategic direction and leadership in helping SCDM to become a globally recognized brand.”

Incoming chair sets sights on worldwide growth
2010 Board Chair Ralph J. Russo, CCDM, assistant director, global clinical data management at Schering Plough Research Institute, said SCDM will continue on a path of globalization under his leadership.

“The SCDM Board will focus on expanding our collaborative relationships with other industry organizations and deepening our relationships with global regulatory authorities,” he said. “We look forward to expanding our member base in new regions of the world as we become more and more a global organization serving the needs of data managers in sponsor and CRO organizations across continents.”

Approximately 17 percent of SCDM members are from outside the United States, representing more than 40 countries.

New Board members offer perspective of sponsors, CROs
Three new Trustees joining the Board bring a broad background of experience. Their terms begin January 1 and last three years.

•   John Estrada, CCDM, owner, PGE Ventures
Estrada has more than 12 years experience in clinical data management – including eight years at Nextrials managing EDC and e-clinical adoption and expansion. He formed his own company earlier this year.

•   Carol Garvey, CCDM, director, CDM at Genentech, Inc.;
Garvey has been in the biotechnology industry for 25 years, including nearly 20 years in clinical data management at Genentech.

•   Linda King, team leader, data management at Eli Lilly and Company;
King joined Eli Lilly in 1998 after a 10-year career in transplantation laboratory medicine. At Lilly, she has led multiple data management teams and is currently manager of a global process and technology lead team.

Other changes
Susan Howard, associate director at GlaxoSmithKline, will serve as SCDM secretary in 2010; Gregg Dearhammer, president of i3 Statprobe, will serve as treasurer. 2009 Chair Linda M. Talley, manager – data sciences and solutions at Eli Lilly, will continue on the Board as a non-voting past-chair.
