Dr. Linda Efferen
South Nassau Communities Hospital is pleased to announce that senior vice president and chief medical officer Dr. Linda S. Efferen has been selected to be included in the Best Doctors in America 2009-10 database.
The Best Doctors in America database contains the names and professional profiles of approximately 45,000 of the best doctors in the U.S. An exhaustive peer-review survey by thousands of doctors determines the physicians included in the database. Only those who earn the consensus support of their peers are included.
As chief medical officer, Dr. Efferen is responsible for facilitating medical staff interactions with hospital administration and the governing board and for assuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the mission of South Nassau. She also oversees the implementation of care management programs and monitors the effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators.
Prior to her appointment at South Nassau, Dr. Efferen served as the associate chair of the department of medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center for more than eight years. Prior to that she served as chief/division of pulmonary and critical care medicine at SUNY-Health Science Center in Brooklyn. She held a number of other positions during her tenure at SUNY-Health Science Center.
Dr. Efferen is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. She has been listed in the Consumers Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians, Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area (for seven years), Best Doctors’ Best Doctors in America and has received a host of awards/honors. She is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the New York Academy of Science, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Critical Care Physicians, American College of Medical Quality, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
