An interview with Mr. Dustin Erickson, creator of www.ElectronicCigarettesReviews.net, gave us some hope, "With the increasing popularity of e-cigarettes, consumers have been quite confused with the increasing assortment of brands, flavors and types. We built this website to let interested parties learn from other users what their favorites are and why." The site is currently offering multiple reviews on nine brands on the market today, with plans to add three more by the end of the month.
Speaking about the principle behind the electronic cigarettes, Mr. Dan McNally, a representative from a cigarette alternative website said, “While Electronic cigarettes look, feel and taste much like traditional cigarettes, they function very differently. Electronic cigarettes do not actually burn any tobacco, but rather, when an e-cigarette is inhaled, it activates a flow sensor which releases a water vapor containing nicotine, propylene glycol and a scent that simulates the flavor of tobacco. All of which simply means that electronic cigarettes allow smokers to get a nicotine fix while avoiding all of the cancer causing agents found in traditional cigarettes such as tar, glue, hundreds of additives and hydrocarbons.”
Electronic cigarettes do not require a lighter to light or a flame of any kind. Instead, the air is drawn when the smoker creates pressure inside the electronic cigarette to ignite the processor and that begins the atomizing process. The liquid mixture (water, nicotine and a possible flavoring of some kind) from the cartridge is injected into the atomizer to vaporize it and this vapor is inhaled by the smoker. The propylene glycol releases a smoke-like mist and the user gets the stimulus of nicotine immediately. But the mist that is exhaled is free of any nicotine so there is no secondary inhalation and no associated passive smoking symptoms.
The electronic cigarette mimics a conventional tobacco cigarette in look and feel. The end of the electronic cigarette lights up with an LED resembling the glow at the end of a traditional cigarette. The bans against smoking that generally apply to tobacco cigarettes in public places are a moot point with electronic cigarettes as there is no actual smoke involved. Smokers can save money by switching to electronic cigarettes too. After the initial purchase of a starter kit, smokers can begin to see huge savings. Depending on the unit purchased, each nicotine cartridge sold by some companies is equal to roughly a half pack to a pack-and-a-half of tobacco cigarettes. There is no sales tax, unlike traditional cigarettes and money spent on smoking paraphernalia such as lighters and ash trays is a non issue because these things are not needed with e-cigarettes.
Despite recent news releases stating the contrary, electronic cigarettes are safe. Clinical trials have now been carried out in New Zealand by Dr. Murray Laugeson of Health New Zealand. The test found that the Electronic Cigarette tested was: "...very safe relative to cigarettes, and also safe in absolute terms on all measurements we have applied. Using micro-electronics it vaporizes, separately for each puff, very small quantities of nicotine dissolved in propylene glycol, two small well-known molecules with excellent safety profiles, – into a fine aerosol. Each puff contains one third to one half the nicotine in a tobacco cigarette’s puff. The cartridge liquid is tobacco-free and no combustion occurs."--Source:
In August of 2009, a new website, http://www.electroniccigarettesreviews.net, was launched to provide a forum for electronic cigarette users. With so many electronic cigarettes on the market today, it can be difficult to choose a brand of e-cigarette or to know if electronic cigarettes are the right choice. The webmasters invite readers to share individual experiences with various brands of electronic cigarettes by their opinions on particular e-cig brands on the market today.
Please visit http://www.electroniccigarettesreviews.net to read unbiased consumer reviews from e-cigarette smokers or to post a public review.
