UEFA Champions League: AZ Alkmaar v Arsenal Preview
Arsenal travel to the DSB Stadion to face Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday night hoping to maintain their 100 per cent start to Group H in the UEFA Champions League.
Following wins over Belgian side Standard Liege and a routine 2-0 win over Olympiakos on their last European outing, the Gunners can move within touching distance of qualification with victory over Ronald Koeman's side.
Arsene Wenger's men are in fine form, having notched up seven straight victories in all competitions, and the Frenchman is confident his side have the belief to deliver a major trophy this season.
"I believe this team has a big future," Wenger told BBC Sport.
"We have improved the belief and results. However, we know we have not won anything yet, it is all in front of us and that is what we want to show this season."
Koeman has struggled with results, following his side's indifferent start to the season, after replacing Louis van Gaal during the summer.
AZ are currently languishing in sixth place in the Dutch Eredivisie, 11 points behind leaders FC Twente, following five defeats in ten games.
The Dutch side are also bottom of Group H having failed to record a victory so far, following an opening defeat to Olympiakos and a 1-1 draw with Belgian champions Standard last time out.
However, they do have history on their side and boast an impressive record of just one home defeat in 34 European ties.
Koeman managed the PSV side which knocked the North London side out of the same competition in 2007 and knows the danger his opposition pose having accumulated 27 goals this season in eight league games.
"We know Arsenal are very good and we know what we have to do," said the former Holland international.
"It starts with self-belief. We must be at our best and for them to have an off-day. I saw their game against Blackburn and they could have scored 15 times!
"We must take the initiative, dominate possession and take the chances that come our way."
Team News:
Champions League debutants AZ go into the game with no injury concerns, however Koeman may change things around following a 3-2 defeat to Stev McClaren's FC Twente on Saturday.
Arsenal are struggling with injuries, in particular on the right-side of midfield, with Theo Walcott is expected to be out for four weeks and Tomas Rosicky also ruled out.
Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Eduardo, Lukasz Fabianski, Johan Djourou and Samir Nasri are all still out injured, while youngster Vito Mannone should keep his place ahead of Manuel Almunia.
