A SWANSEA Mum is doing her bit for a cause close to her heart.
Christina Grinter, of Plasmarl, is raising money for Help for Heroes- a charity to help wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Her two sons, Nicholas and Ben, are currently in the army.
Both are serving in Afghanistan;
Ben attended Birchgrove Comprehensive School where he was deputy head boy and Nicholas attended Bishop Gore Comprehensive School.
Christina, a Swansea Council receptionist based at the Dylan Thomas Centre since 1995, has been organising raffles with the chance to win prizes such as a meal at the Somerset Place attraction and tickets to Grand Theatre performances.
She's also been arranging a weekly pub quiz at the Gatehouse in Cwmbwrla and is selling Help for Heroes wristbands on reception at the Dylan Thomas Centre.
Christina said: "This is certainly a charity that I feel strongly about and I'll be looking to raise as much money as possible in the build-up to Christmas.
"Ben actually sustained an injury in Iraq in 2007 so I have first-hand knowledge of the benefits of the Help for Heroes charity- not just for the soldiers but for their families too.
"Every penny raised can make a difference to the lives of our wounded servicemen and women returning from the Middle East so I would urge people who haven't heard about the charity to read up about it and give a heartfelt donation if they can afford to."
Jonathan Player, Dylan Thomas Centre Manager, said: "We're delighted to help Christina raise money for Help for Heroes.
"We wish her lots of success with her fundraising because it's such a worthy cause."
