The Villa Group Resorts Takes Precautionary Measures for Hurricane Rick

A Hurricane Watch Remains in Effect for Cabo San Lucas for Category 2 Hurricane Rick. The Villa Group has taken all the warranted precautionary measures to ensure the comfort and safety of hotel guests.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 19, 2009 – As Hurricane Rick continues on its path towards southern Baja, The Villa Group announced that preparatory measures are all in place to ensure the safety of resort guests, even as the storm was downgraded Monday to a Category 2 from its previous Category 5 status.  The center of the hurricane will be approaching southern Baja by late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Additional weakening is forecast in the next 48 hours.

The Villa Group is closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Rick and has taken all precautionary measures to safeguard the property and ensure the safety and health of all resort guests and employees.  The Villa Group’s  Cabo properties include Villa Del Palmar, Villa Del Arco Resort & Desert Spa, and Villa La Estancia, all located on Medano Beach in view of the famous rock formation, El Arco.

At this stage guests are safe to remain in their rooms. An emergency shelter has been stocked in case the strength of winds intensifies to a degree that is deemed unsafe.

The Villa Group has put into place the following Hurricane Policy.  The hotels agree:

1.  To waive any cancellation and/or ‘no-show’ penalties.
2.  If a guest chooses to relocate to another hotel of the same chain, in another location, the hotel  will honor the rate of the original booked hotel.
3.  If guest wishes to postpone their vacation and travel at a later date at the original resort booked, the hotel will protect the original rate for travel until to December 18 2009.
4.  In-house guests departing early will not be charged any early departure penalties.
5.  In-house guests scheduled but unable to depart due to airport closures will be offered a 50% discount over rack rates, which will be charged directly to each guest.
6.  Other guest wanting to travel at another date later than December 18, 2009; will be treated on a case by case basis.
** This policy is valid for (10/21/09) thru Friday (10/23/09).

American Airlines and United Airlines are currently offering travelers who had planned travel to Cabo San Lucas between the dates of 10-18 through 10-23 a waiver that allows them to rebook flights to Los Cabos [San Jose del Cabo, Mexico (SJD)] without the usual financial penalties for flight changes. Other airlines may follow suit.

Speaking on behalf of The Villa Group, Corporate Director Carlos Aquino announced, “While our resort guests are in no immediate danger and the storm is actually decreasing in strength, we have implemented full hurricane preparedness procedures to ensure our guests’ safety and comfort.”
