Tracy Myers, owner of Winston-Salem based used car dealer Frank Myers Auto Maxx, said that his customers love the Accord. “The Honda Accord is our number one requested vehicle…hands down. It’s more popular here than the used Maxima, used Camry and used Lexus combined. And the 2004 body style is still their most requested…regardless of the fact that it’s five years old. That’s why we try to keep several in stock. Plus we have a service department that is fully capable of handling almost any factory recommended maintenance at a fraction of what it would cost you at the Honda dealership.”
To remeber America before the Accord, you have to go back to a November day in 1982. That's when the first American-produced Honda Accord rolled off the assembly line at the Marysville Auto Plant. Then, almost 22 years later, another Accord rolled off the assembly line to more accolades.
It was a silver 2004 Accord EX Sedan and it became the 10 millionth automobile produced by Honda in Ohio.
The Honda Accord has become an automotive icon and a small piece of Americana. As a matter of fact, it’s been around for so long that it’s hard to remember what it was like before the Accord.
"This is a great accomplishment that shows the dedication of all our associates,"
With the start of motorcycle production in 1979, Honda of America was trying to establish itself as a company that could build quality products in the United States. Today, Honda of America is a leading automotive manufacturer and Honda is also one of the top selling pre-owned nameplates in the marketplace.
"Since that first Accord, our associates have never stopped trying to get better," said a representative for Honda. "From rolling model changes to building light trucks on the same line as cars, we have set the industry standard for flexibility and the desire to find better ways to manufacture the products our customers enjoy."
