Laguna Hills, California - Embrace Recovery Addiction Treatment Center will celebrate the grand opening of their new facility at 23232 Peralta Dr. Suite 219 in Laguna Hills, California on Oct 23. Owners Tom Offerdahl and Michael Finch have teamed up with Marriage and Family Therapist, Rosemary Kane , to provide what they state is a very unique approach to dealing with those who are dealing with addiction and their families.
Offerdahl and Finch have over 30 years of experience between them working in the field of addiction treatment. While working together at a Laguna Beach based facility, the found a commonality in thinking that resulted in their desired to start their own thinking. Offerdahl explains it this way: "While all professionals acknowledge that the client must desire help in order to have any chance of long term sobriety, we both felt that it should be much more than a grudging acceptance. Our goal with clients is to provide them with the desire to actually embrace recovery as a way of life."
Finch has the same outlook, "Most addicts want what they want and they want it now! But that attitude results in all kinds of inappropriate behavior. We teach our clients impulse control, but not just as a discipline, but as a way to feel better every day."
The new facility is beautifully decorated and inviting. Even the commercial neighborhood is tree-lined and serene. "Our last location was just blocks from the beach, explains Offerdahl, but it was cramped and had no windows. What use is it to be near the beach when you don't even have a view. We are very intentional about every aspect of our practice. Everything about the experience at Embrace Recovery should be positive."
Finch points out that this attitude even goes to their approach to meeting times. "Most of our clients work, and that is an important element in recovery. Therefore we are very flexible in setting appointments and group meetings to insure that it doesn't interfere with the job. We offer evening meetings and various schedules to fit the client's need."
Our way of dealing with family and loved ones is also very different than most programs. Rosemary meets with the families one-on-one instead of in group settings. This allows for some of the members to be more open and comfortable dealing with some pretty badly damaged feelings."
The open house celebration on Friday, Oct 23 takes place from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and is open to doctors, therapists, and counselors in the addiction field who may be seeking new or additional resources to refer clients for outpatient rehabilitation and family treatment.
