Follow on Google News | Alexander Technique Introductory Courses In HornchurchQualified Alexander Technique teacher Carla Radford is to launch introductory Alexander Technique courses at Fairkytes Arts Centre in Hornchurch, Essex. And as an added bonus, the courses will be combined with ‘Mindful Body Stretching’.
By: Carla Radford From January 2010, the local people of Havering will have the chance to try The Alexander Technique; a method that teaches people to identify harmful physical and mental habits that can cause unwanted mental tension and ill health. The Technique has been used for more than 100 years and is championed by many famous people, including John Cleese, Roald Dahl and George Bernard Shaw. Although it is renowned as a self help system for chronic back pain, the Alexander Technique has a far wider range of benefits including assisting with breathing difficulties, postural problems, headaches, recurring injuries and repetitive strain injury. Carla Radford, a Member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) has undergone strict, regulated training to help people find a tailor made way to get back in control of their mental and physical well being. She has recently developed her Mindful Body Stretching system to bring together the benefits of the Alexander Technique with those of her other passion, Yoga. Her courses will be held at Fairkytes Arts Centre in Billet Lane, Hornchurch on Thursday evening from 7.30pm till 9.50pm from January 2010. The courses, which are limited to small classes, are divided into two parts of six classes each. The Main Course consists of six classes explaining the principles of The Alexander Technique and includes practical activities. The Follow-up Course involves further exploration of the Technique and further practical activities. The fee for each course is £30.00 (£5.00 per class). The full course fee is payable in advance of the first class. More information can be found on the Alexander for Hornchurch website: http://www.alexanderforhornchurch.co.uk.
