MFH and MPH formed a new partnership for cardiothoracic surgery services with Penn Medicine on July 1.
The partnership brings world-class cardiovascular care to the Delaware County and West Philadelphia communities that MFH and MPH serve with a Penn cardiothoracic surgeon at both hospitals through a new practice, Penn Cardiac Care at Mercy.
Penn Cardiac Care at Mercy provides advanced cardiovascular procedures including coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), heart valve repairs and heart valve replacements, as well as surgical treatments for abnormal heart rhythms, offering minimally invasive techniques and surgery on a beating heart, when appropriate.
The first CABG surgery was completed successfully on the first day of the new arrangement and since then, 28 cardiothoracic surgeries have been performed.
The cardiothoracic surgery services are a part of a comprehensive cardiovascular program across both MFH and MPH that also includes diagnostic cardiovascular testing and interventional procedures, a fully digital cardiac catheterization lab available around the clock, a fully accredited non-invasive vascular lab and digital Vascular Center, cardiac rhythm management therapy and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation.
