FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 23, 2009Schaumburg, Ill.— Perry County Memorial Hospital, Tell City, Ind., has gone live with its Intranet portal designed and installed by HospitalPortal.NET™. It is the hospital’s first Intranet portal.

HospitalPortal.NET is a leading provider of secure hospital-specific Intranet sites for electronic information sharing and information publishing.  Perry County Memorial, a healthcare provider for 60 years, is a critical access hospital with 25 beds and 315 full- and part-time employees.

“We had been inundated with paper as we tried to keep up with policies and procedures as well as communications and had more manuals around the hospital than I can count,” said Randy Dennison, vice-president of support services for Perry County Memorial. “Now with our portal, we can electronically update our policies and procedures without having to deal with endless paperwork as was the case in the past.”

Dennison said he was also impressed by the number of functions provided by HospitalPortal’s Intranet portal besides policies and procedures. “Now we have an entire system that I can use to communicate with staff, board members and medical personnel along with inputting electronic forms,” Dennison said. “As a result, our people are embracing the system.”

Prior to the installation of HospitalPortal’s Intranet, Dennison said he had to spend time verifying the most recent versions of policies, all of which were limited to paper.  It was a time-consuming task that has been alleviated by the portal."I especially like the ability to log-on from home, check a policy, know that it is updated and make a decision about what a staff member can do,” Dennison said.  He added that the portal’s archiving system offers the hospital a valuable historical record should any issues arise.

“It’s an intuitive system and we’re excited about how we can grow with it,” Dennison said.   “Above all, we’ve had good support and training and because of that, we were able to set a realistic goal and stick with it.”
