PRESS RELEASE PR001
Traffic to the website of Forth, a new current affairs magazine has had more than 10,000 reads before it is even officially open for business.
“Forth’s traffic is independently audited by two separate services, Statcounter and Google, so these numbers can be trusted,” said forth editor and publisher Jason Walsh.
The site, which will officially launch on November 1, 2009, has seen readers visit primarily from Ireland and Britain, but also the United States, Canada, Sweden, Australia, France and other countries.
In its first ten days online the magazine saw 10,845 page loads, each representing a visitor reading a page. These reads come from a total of 8,166 unique visitors.
The online magazine analyses current affairs with a focus on Irish matters. It was founded by Walsh, a frequent contributor to newspapers and magazines in Ireland and Britain, because of a frustration with the lack of critical voices in the Irish media.
“Plenty of people are ready and willing to criticise the government but few seem to have a coherent worldview or any kind of forward-looking programme,” he said. “It’s the the same old ‘enemy of the month club’.”
Based in Dublin, forth is an independent voice in Irish politics: “We hold no brief for anyone,” said Walsh, “and will certainly have a lot to say as time goes on.”
