Dir.vc Launches Web Directory competition

PR Log (Press Release) – Oct 18, 2009 – Dir.vc Web directory announced its first web directory competition, sponsered by various online businesses. The Competition invites all web directory owners to take part in the contest, irrespective of their niche, said CEO, M-Solutions India. The Winner gets a $100 USD, and also walks away with a whole loads of goodies, sposered by various web companies. There are also other prizes for dierctories owned by people in USA, and in India.

Dir.vc is one of the net companies run by M-Solutions. We launched this business in mid 2007, and it has since grown to where it stands.

Directories since 2007 have been in the news after Google went all out against the fly-by-night directories accross the net, which were ruining the magic algorithm that google has. These directories held more spam and rempantly sold links to people trying to gain popularity online. Google slowly but steadily and with a firm hand devaluated the amount of weightage it gave to directories to the extent it went ahead to change its own webmaster guidlines. The line submit to directories was removed from there.

The web, thankfully, saw the spam directories fade out, and what remained straightened their business model to conform to guidelines set out by Google. Matt Cutts, Google spokesperson, and the head of Google's Webspam team, was at the forefront of the contraversies surrounding the crackdown on directories. In his blog he repeatedly clarified Googles position on directories.

If you are willing to go the extra mile and keep with in Googles guidlines, directories as a business model work, said CEO, M-Solutions India. As he explained directories are more than just a bunch of links. "We provide the world with a collection of websites in a well categorised form, so you would never have to worry about stumbling on a bad site".
