London Male Waxing is a new service started recently by Jack Dunn of JD Therapies in Islington London.
Last autumn, 2008, Jack returned from Crete Greece, where he had been on a sabbatical for three years working in the Spa at the well known Blue Palace Hotel near Elounda, and started up his own business providing male grooming and massage services from a dedicated treatment room at his home in Islington.
“From the outset, I provided a limited range of hair removal treatments for my male clients,” said Jack, “And of course it was obvious during the course of giving my clients massage and facial treatments that body waxing was quite popular with the male population”
“On further investigation it became clear that most waxing and hair removal therapists were women working in larger salons”, he continued, “And many of my male massage clients expressed the feeling that they would prefer to have body waxing and other hair removal therapies performed by a male therapist, and that the busy salon environments normally used, did not suit them.”
Feeling that there was a gap in the market here, Jack took training courses, in England, with two of the best known experts in the male waxing field, Andy Rouillard at Axiom Bodyworks and ‘in house’ training with Kim Lawless, who developed many of the techniques use in male waxing therapies today.
Having completed his training and gained the necessary certificates Jack started placing advertisements on the Gumtree and Hotfrog web sites. Jack was initially surprised at the responses to his advertisements, discovering that the intimate male waxing, or male Brazilian or Hollywood wax were more popular than he supposed, and accordingly opened his own web site dedicated to men’s waxing in September 2009.
Having re-equipped his private treatment room to the standards required to get the necessary insurance, he now provides a full range of male waxing treatments which include not just the male Brazilian, but arm and leg waxing, the ever popular back, sack and crack wax, normally known as the BSC, nose and ear waxing, and just about everywhere in between!
“As with many things today, flexibility, affordability, and service are the keys,” said Jack, “And my location close to central London means that I can provide services to visitors often at short notice, during evenings and weekends. My prices also have some flexibility so that clients can afford to have as much or as little hair removed in any particular area. My training here in England, rather than abroad also pleases clients, as does my private treatment room where clients can relax without the ‘production-
