Oct. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Each year Smoky Mountain Winterfest opens a world of magical lights, and holiday cheer in Sevier County, TN.  The entire county gets involved, putting on the most impressive holiday festival in the South.  There is great family fun for all, and we want to share it with you.

This year Winterfest kicks off with a brand new event – Tender Tennessee Christmas.  This event will feature a display of Christmas Trees designed and decorated by local artisans.  Come view these impressive trees at Holiday Inn Convention Center in Pigeon Forge on Sunday November 1 from 10 am until 6 pm, and Monday November 2 from 10 am until 4 pm. Admission is by donation to the United Way of Sevier County.  Thanks to our sponsors The Christmas Place and Pigeon Forge Hotel & Lodging Association, on Monday November 2, 2009 at 5 pm there will be “Business After hours” featuring a live auction beginning at 6 pm, and each of these unique trees will go to the highest bidder, again with all proceeds going to United Way of Sevier County.   If you are unable to join us at the live auction, you can place a bid at any time during this two day event.

Sevierville kicks off its celebration of lights on Tuesday November 3, 2009.  The fun begins at the Sevierville Community Center, located just off Dolly Parton Parkway.  The city of Sevierville offers live music, dancing in the streets, hayrides with Santa, and cocoa by the mug full.  This festival marks the beginning of the illumination of millions of lights throughout Sevier County.

On Wednesday November 4, 2009 bring your appetite as Gatlinburg hosts its 18th annual Winterfest Chili Cook-Off.  Over 20 vendors will serve up a variety of homemade chili, from delightful, to wild and adventurous, in portions suitable for sampling.  Once you have been pleasantly filled, cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award, and judges will select winners in categories including taste, booth presentation, apron design, and most unique chili name.  Admission is $8 for a spoon and voting ballot, which benefits Pi Beta Phi Elementary School PTA, and the evening’s program includes the “flip of the switch” for Gatlinburg’s Winter Magic Lights.

As dusk settles in Pigeon Forge on Thursday November 5, 2009 the City begins its Winterfest Festival at Patriot Park, located just off the Parkway on Old Mill Avenue.  The kick-off includes live music and entertainment, guest appearances from local celebrities, and good clean fun for the entire family.  Touring the lights is a favorite activity of many visitors, and there is no better, or easier, way than onboard The Pigeon Forge Trolley Tour of Lights.
From November through February, spectacular light displays illuminate the evening landscape of Sevier County, Tennessee in the four month long holiday celebration of Winterfest.  The Great Smoky Mountain Area comes alive with joyous holiday cheer, festive ornaments adorn the storefronts and streets, special events fill the days and evenings with excitement and fond memories, seasonal delicacies entice the senses, and mountain music fills the soul with good old Smoky Mountain Rhythm.

Remember, Winterfest begins in November and continues through February, and your entire family is welcome at anytime.  We will leave the lights on for you … millions of them!
