The bi-annual charity quiz drew over 130 quiz enthusiasts and was hosted by quiz master Barry Stonham. Barry, operations director at Wyboston Lakes, kept the 18 teams in order as they answered a variety of questions ranging from football mascots to the states of the USA.
The evening was a great success and the Burned Children’s Club appeal, a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting young burns survivors, will now benefit from the £930 raised. This donation will go towards the funding of the annual World Burns Jamboree, which will be held in Britain for the first time in 2010, and will culminate in a gala dinner at Robinson Executive Conference Centre in August.
The winning team was “No Fear” whose prize was £200, with second and third places receiving wine and chocolates. During the break, the teams enjoyed a selection of treats prepared by Wyboston Lakes’ award-winning brigade of chefs.
Barry said: “Another great quiz night, well attended and closely contested, raised lots of money for an excellent cause”.
The next quiz night will take place in late January and will once again be in aid of a local charity, suggestions for deserving local charities are welcome.
